PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS


HALIFAX, NS – New Castle Hotels and Resorts Nova Scotia properties are excited to announce recent promotions and transfers.

Angela Steeves is the new General Manager of the award winning Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa. Angela joined New Castle Hotels and Resorts in 2002 as Food and Beverage Manager at The Westin Nova Scotian and spent the past five years as the General Manager of Liscombe Lodge Resort and Conference Centre. A graduate of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program of Algonquin College, Angela started her hospitality career with Delta Hotels and Resorts in Western Canada.

Karen Wenaus is the new General Manager at Liscombe Lodge Resort and Conference Centre. Karen has served in various roles within the hospitality industry in Atlantic Canada and Toronto, joining New Castle Hotels and Resorts in 1997. Karen served as Banquet Manager and Executive Meetings Manager at The Westin Nova Scotian. A native of Dartmouth, Karen is a Board Member of the Dartmouth Senior Service Centre and serves as Provincial Office of the Nova Scotia Chapter, IODE.

Dale Nichols is the new Executive Chef at Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, moving from a six year stint at Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa. A graduate of George Brown College, Dale began his storied culinary career at some of the finest restaurants in Toronto. The native Maritime Canadian has served as Executive Chef within Delta, Canadian Pacific, and Fairmont Hotels prior to joining New Castle in 2003. Dale’s motto is “develop a solid work ethic, leave your EGO at the door and bring your PRIDE inside”.

Rick Norman is the General Manager of the Hampton Inn & Suites Dartmouth, opening in Dartmouth Crossing, April 2009. Rick joined New Castle Hotels with the Westin Nova Scotian in 1996, and has worked in many rooms related positions, most recently as Rooms Division Manager from 2002 to 2008. Rick recently served as the opening General Manager of New Castle’s first New Brunswick hotel, The Marriott Residence Inn Moncton.

Katheryn Elson returns to New Castle as Director of Sales of the Hampton Inn & Suites Dartmouth. A graduate of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Mount Saint Vincent University, Katheryn worked at The Westin Nova Scotian for three years prior to moving to various local hotels to hone her skills.

“Our goal is to offer the most incredible hospitality experience in Atlantic Canada, and the team we are building will position us to excel” says Guido Kerpel, Area Director of New Castle Hotels and Resorts. “We are proud to build leaders from within, and our recent promotions are no exception”.
