Halifax, Nova Scotia – March 19, 2007: Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa announces the appointment of Scott Nickerson, Golf Professional at Digby Pines, and the third generation of Nickerson pros at the resort. The legacy started in 1952 with Charles Nickerson (known as Nick), and continued for the last 33 years with Bill Nickerson. Digby Pines Golf Course has benefited from the guidance of Nickersons for over 55 years.
“We have a long and proud history with the Nickerson family,” said Rene LeBlanc, General Manager of Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa. “Scott will not only continue the tradition from 1952, he will take it to a new level with his determination and strength.”
For the past seven years, Nickerson has worked at the Fairmont Algonquin as Head Golf Professional and Golf Operations Manager. He has a B Comm from Dal and worked for three years apprenticing to receive his Class A to become a Head Pro. "I am very excited to be returning to Digby in this position as a third generation Nickerson as Head Professional,” said Nickerson.
“We couldn’t have found a better person for this job,” said LeBlanc. “And the fact that there is such a positive family history with us certainly doesn’t hurt!”
