Cape Breton Recipe: Apple Crisp
Friday, November 4th, 2011
During the fall season in Nova Scotia, there are plenty of apples. At our Nova Scotia Resort, we like to make the best of this delicious fruit by making Apple Crisp. Here is one of our favourite recipes:
6 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup flour
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Combine apples, sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon and place in buttered
baking dish. Mix flour and butter until it crumbles. Add sugar, cinnamon,
and rolled oats and mix well.
Spread over apples and pat firmly. Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender and topping is brown. Serve warm with ice cream.
